Personality: Kaneki can be shy and selfless sometimes but he is quite ruthless and brutal in order to protect his friends. He can maintain complete composure not being phased by anything, like if his leg is broken he just fixes it and it just keeps fighting. He use to fear his ghoul side but he doesn't anymore. He is quite cold and barbaric during battles. He sometimes clings to his human side and he still has a gentle nature to those he cares about. He can automatically turn merciless with a blink of an eye against his enemies or those he doesn't trust.

History: Kaneki lost his father and mother at a young age. The reason he is half ghoul is because he got into a addicent with on of his friends that was a full ghoul. Some how he has a higher chance of living so the doctors took some of his friends organs and placed them in him. He was really scared when he found out what he was.. He wears a eye patch when he goes out since he can't control his ghoul eye(his right eye).
But his friend Hide(who is a human but it seems like every ghoul has one human they hold close.) was always there for him. He lived on his own until someone promised to take good care of him. He was tricked and tortured for a while. He can't really remember how long he was at the guys place. But within that time he changed, when the man was about to torture him more Kaneki got free and killed the man. He ran back to his friend Hide but ended up going to his cousins since he couldn't tell Hide he was a ghoul(he was afarid he would lose his friend..) He now has a small group of ghouls that follow him that try to keep peace between the humans and ghouls.

He loves his job and helping Kaneki try to keep peace, though he has many secrets..
