History: Karl V, Emperor of Malkuth (the island nation) at the time, had four noble concubines besides his wife. Peony’s mother was the one with the lowest status. The emperor had three sons and one daughter, none of them sharing the same mother, and all but Peony died in a struggle for the Malkuth throne since the reigning emperor (Karl V) had many enemies. Karl V kept Peony in Peony’s mother’s manor because a prediction said that Peony would rule Malkuth, the manor was far the Malkuth, and Peony never knew his father (Karl V). Peony hardly had the chance to leave the manor, but despite a closely guarded childhood, he did become friends with Cantabile, a fellow student under the Grand Maestro, the one who gives the God-Generals orders.
